Debut image of Daniel Day Lewis in Spielberg's 'Lincoln'

If there was ever a movie that's guaranteed some Oscar nominations, it's Steven Spielberg's upcoming biopic of Abraham Lincoln with Daniel Day Lewis in the title role.

And now the first official image of the 'There Will Be Blood' Academy Award winner in full make-up and costume has been revealed.

Entertainment Weekly bagged the exclusive
on this.

Director Spielberg told the publication: "Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition"

"Lincoln had a very, very complicated – and at the same time, extremely clear — inner life," the 'Munich' director says. "He thought things out. He talked things out. He argued both sides of every issue. And he was very careful in making any decision. As a matter of fact, his opponents and his enemies criticized him often for being impossibly slow to a decision."

This doesn't really give us many clues about 'Lincoln'. However, we do know that the narrative takes place during the last four month's of the president's life right up to his assassination as he continued to shape American history.

We are looking at a January 25th release in the UK - right in time for awards consideration.
