Summary: Simply the highest quality possible versions of the Harry Potter film series on home video - all in one tantalising box set.

The Harry Potter series has had their fair share of releases on DVD and Blu-ray from barebones to lavish box sets with magical secret compartments. Now it’s hitting home on 4K UHD in a new box set from Warner Brothers. Is it worth the upgrade?

The films are all familiar and another rundown of their merits isn't going to aid any potential buyers of this set. If you're here, you're probably a fan. Or even a fanatic.

If you’re looking for a host of new bonus material then forget it - these are just the films stripped bare. But if you demand the highest possible quality when it comes to your picture and sound then you’ll want to pick this up and savour every little detail of its 4K UHD greatness. And great it is. The presentations are stunning.

What this set really brings out is the sheer amount of care and devotion that the crew put into the production in terms of set design, costumes, visual effects and art direction. You can really notice the boost in quality - in HDR (High Dynamic Range) you’ll be treated to more vibrant colours that, for the first few films anyway, seem to leap off the screen joyously before descending into beautifully darker, richly nuanced blacks and greys as you get into the more moodier territory that is the franchise’s epic conclusion.

Chances are if you’re considering purchasing this set then you’ll be well aware of the true magic that radiates so infectiously from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half -Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

This is a series of films that audiences, critics and film historians will look back on as a high watermark of what blockbuster entertainment could aspire to be - all-inviting, richly plotted, trailblazing in style and a saviour of dwindling box office takings in an era of pirate downloads and a move towards videogames. The Harry Potter series brought droves of audiences of all ages back to the cinema to marvel at what spells the British film industry could command over the record books.

It’s a series of films that deserve to be seen with the best picture and sound quality. This set grants us that at a bargain price considering what standalone UHD discs are going for.

Films included in collection - on 4K UHD Blu-ray with added digital copies are:

It all ends here.
