Bunyip Bluegum, a fine, round and splendid teenage koala has always believed he is an orphan. Until one day he discovers the truth. His parents were taken away, never to return. But Bunjip is convinced that they must still be alive, so he sets off to find them and see the big wide world. His only clue is the name of a mysterious town where they were last seen.

On his travels Bunyip meets Bill Barnacle and his penguin side-kick, Sam Sawnoff. Together, the three form the Noble Society of Pudding Owners. For Bill and Sam have a treasure - a magic pudding called Albert. He not only transforms into whatever pudding you wish for, but also never runs out. As soon as you cut one slice off him another appears. The only drawback to this miraculous pudding is his rather cantankerous temperament and an exhausting habit of running away at every possible opportunity.

But Bill, Sam and Bunyip are dedicated to the preservation and ownership of Albert, which often proves a hazardous task, for the world is full of Puddin’ Thieves!

The Noble Society of Pudding Owners are constantly dogged by their arch enemies, sinis;er Puddin’ Thieves like Possum and Wombat . This unscrupulous if inefficient duo will stop at nothing to trick our heroes and make off with The Magic Pudding. Bill and Sam have spent years dodging them and punching their snouts. “It’s a vocation”, explains Bill, “that lasts a lifetime”. But Bunyip never forgets why he began his quest. Together with his new and fiercely loyal mates, he sets out to solve the mystery of his parents’ disappearance. However, when Bunyip finds the mysterious town, he realises the puzzle is even more complicated than he thought. And more dangerous.

For there is one animal who controls the fate of all - be he Pudding Owner, Puddin’ Thief or innocent bystander. Once a fat and greedy wombat chef on the decrepit ship that Bill and Sam once sailed upon, Buncle has transformed himself into the most feared marsupial under the Australian desert.

It was Buncle who captured Bunyip’s parents and Buncte who tried to destroy Bill and Sam many years ago in the Antarctic Sea. Buncle will stop at nothing to get the one thing he covets more than life itself - Albert, the Magic Pudding.

When Albert ventures into Buncle’s hideout to rescue Bunyip’s parents, it is Bunyip, Bill and Sam who must put their friendship to the test and defeat this villain once and for all. In doing so, they not only rescue Bunyip’s parents but they teach Albert what true mateship really means.
