'2 Broke Girls' star Kat Dennings will return in 'Thor 2: The Dark World'

Kat Dennings has officially signed on to reprise her role of Darcy Lewis in the forthcoming 'Thor' sequel.

The actress, who also stars in hit TV sitcom '2 Broke Girls', joins returning co-stars Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and Chris Hemsworth (who plays the titular Thor).

Given how Dennings' career has escalated with her work in the overperforming sitcom, many media outlets are speculating that her sarcasm-filled role will be expanded this time around.

The first film's director, Kenneth Branagh, will not be coming back however as he's busy prepping the Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan reboot (in which he will also play the villain in).

Filling Branagh's director's chair is TV ace Alan Taylor who has some well-respected small screen credits to his name including 'Game of Thrones' and 'Mad Men'.

We previously reported that former 'Doctor Who' star Christopher Eccleston will star as Malekith the Accursed, villainous ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.

Expect the superhero film to arrive in November 2013.
