Adam Sandler sweeps Razzie worst film 'winners' list
Adam Sandler has made history at the Razzies when his film 'Jack and Jill' swept the board, winning every possible Golden Raspberry 'award' for bad filmmaking.
Sandler even managed to pick up both Worst Actor and Worst Actress thanks to his dual role as the two titular characters.
It is the first time in the 32-year history of the gala that one film has won every category. However, the news isn't that surprising given that Sandler received a record number of nominations.
Oscar winner Al Pacino scooped Worst Supporting Actor for playing himself while the film's director Dennis Dugan picked up a gong for two Sandler vehicles - 'Jack and Jill' and 'Just Go With It'. Our one-star review of 'Just Go With It' pulled no punches, declaring that "all of the characters are actually morons."
The awards were voted on by the 657 members of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation. In addition, over 35,000 ballots from film website Rotten Tomatoes were considered.
Razzies founder John Wilson didn't mince his words: "He didn't play triplets, but he couldn't have won more awards if he had.
"Adam Sandler has a pretty much basic attitude of, 'No matter how dumb I make it, my fans are going to pay to see it'.
"I guess it's more about the complete lack of any genuine effort or concern or pride. An attitude of this is good enough, but when you consider what they're charging for movie tickets today, it wasn't good enough.
"It was good enough to get our attention. If you work with the attitude that you're just going to be good enough, then you're probably good enough for the Razzies."
