Anthony Mackie in talks for 'Captain America 2'

Marvel have followed up from announcing the title for their 'Captain America' sequel (it's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier') by staging talks with potential cast members, and the latest is Anthony Mackie.

Mackie made a big splash with his supporting role in Best Picture Oscar winner 'The Hurt Locker' a few years back before starring as Tupac Shakur in 'Notorious'. Co-starring roles in 'Real Steel', 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' and 'Gangster Squad' followed. Now he's looking like the number one choice for the superhero sequel as well.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Mackie is in line for the role of Falcon, generally regarded as one of the first black superheroes in mainstream comicbook fiction.

Falcon is the alter-ego of Harlem citizen Sam Wilson and serves as Captain America's partner in crime prevention during his 1970s years. The Falcon, as the name suggests, can fly thanks to a snazzy suit.

Chris Evans will be reprising his role from 'Captain America: The First Avenger' as part of his exclusive Marvel contract.

Directed By Anthony and Joe Russo, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' will open in the US on 4 April 2014. A UK release date is still yet to be confirmed.
