'Bourne Legacy' team hints at sequels
'The Bourne Legacy' hasn't even been released yet and the producer and star are already talking sequels.
Esteemed producer Frank Marshall appears to hold the Tony Gilroy directed film in high regard, sharing his enthusiasm for continuing the story.
At a press conference, Marshall stated the future plans: "We're gonna follow Jeremy's character. Everything else is wide open. That's the great thing about this now. The table is set to go any direction we want to. But we will, I'm sure, follow Jeremy and see what happens. Jeremy and Rachel [Weisz]."
Double Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner took over the lead role in 'Bourne' franchise from Matt Damon who starred in the first three. 'Avengers Assemble' actor Renner takes on the role of Aaron Cross in the sequel which doesn't gloss over the foundation laid down by Damon's take on the titular hero Jason Bourne.
Speaking of the potential for the espionage franchise, Renner said: "As far as the future. I'm excited that the architects and the creators behind this whole thing have cleverly left it wide open for fans like myself to wonder what's going to go on next."
The architect Renner is referring to is Tony Gilroy, the screenwriter of the first three films who bagged filmmaking kudos for his Oscar winning 'Michael Clayton' and has since directed 'The Bourne Legacy'.
Co-starring Edward Norton, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Albert Finney, 'The Bourne Legacy' breaks into UK cinemas on August 13th. Watch the trailer HERE.
