Jim Carrey pulls out of 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel

Despite initially being enthusiastic about reteaming with co-star Jeff Daniels and writer/directors Bobby & Peter Farrelly, Jim Carrey has revealed that the proposed 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel is off.

Peter Farrelly said a few months back that "We're getting set to shoot Dumb And Dumber 2 in September. It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

However, Carrey has revealed that studio backers Warner Brothers and New Line aren't pulling their weight, effectively dropping the film.

Carrey said: "I would have thought Dumb & Dumber Two was a no-brainer, after all it's implied in the title"

The news is odd given that the first film, made in 1994, grossed over $270m from a $20m budget. Naturally, the fees required to get all the now starrier players to return would drastically ramp up the budget.
