MGM launch lawsuit against 'Raging Bull 2'

Despite having boxer and writer Jake LaMotta himself onboard, it seems that 'Raging Bull 2' is punching above its weight. MGM have filed suit against the sequel claiming that it will tarnish the original which they own the rights for.

The original in question is, of course, the Oscar winning 'Raging Bull' from 1980 starring Robert De Niro as Jake LaMotta. De Niro won the Oscar for it and trained to a professional level.

Martin Scorsese directed to great acclaim as well, with the finished product ranking not only among the greatest sports films ever made but also the greatest movies full stop.

LaMotta, the 91-year-old former boxer, has been named in the suit for not offering MGM the rights to his sequel book first. MGM are also concerned that they're publicly associating their film with the Scorsese one.

'Raging Bull 2' stars William Forsythe (the slick-haired guy from 'The Rock') as an older LaMotta with Mojean Aria as the younger version. It's based on LaMotta's own 1986 follow-up autobiography.
