Reese Witherspoon confirms pregnancy rumours

After months of speculation in the press, Oscar winning 'Walk the Line' actress Reese Witherspoon has confirmed that she is expecting another baby this autumn.

The 'Legally Blonde' star was speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times during an evening in honour of her entertainment career.

She said that she is currently shooting 'Devil's Knot' alongside Colin Firth and after that wraps, she'll dedicate the time to becoming a mother:

"['Devil's Knot'] is about a crime that occurred in 1993. It happened in Arkansas, and it’s what I’d say is a very American story.

"And, after I finish that, I’m going to take a little time off — and go have a baby."

The star was in Chicago for 'An Evening With Reese Witherspoon' in which she scooped the Renaissance Award at the annual summer event which benefits the Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Presenting her the award and conducting a Q&A with the star was her 'Election' director Alexander Payne.

Of the 'Sideways' and 'The Descendants' Oscar winner, Witherspoon said: "Alexander was a big champion for me early on, and said, ‘That’s the girl I want in my movie,’ so I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for him. And we’ve subsequently become very close friends.

"We joke about this, because it hasn’t happened, but we both truly do want to work together again. And I know we eventually will find a script and a time when that can happen."

Witherspoon has two children with her 'Cruel Intentions' co-star Ryan Phillippe. This will be her first with second husband Jim Toth.
