Tilda Swinton and John Hurt join Jim Jarmusch's vampire romance

Tilda Swinton and John Hurt are rejoining their 'Limits of Control' director Jim Jarmusch for his first foray into the vampire genre - a romance titled 'Only Loves Left Alive'.

Jarmusch has been offering his unique spin on established genres for years with prison drama 'Down by Law', hitman saga 'The Limits of Control', road movie romance/mid life crisis drama 'Broken Flowers' and modern samurai musing 'Ghost Dog' all affected by his slow, thoughtful, offbeat and music-centric approach so don't expect anything along the lines of 'Twilight'.

In addition to Swinton and Hurt, the cast for 'Only Loves Left Alive' also features Mia Wasikowska ('Alice in Wonderland') and, taking over from Michael Fassbender, Tom Hiddleston ('War Horse') on the bill in what is described as an epic tale of two vampires who have been in love for centuries.

Jarmusch is producing the film with help from Pandora Films. Cologne State Film subsidy body Filmstufftung NRW has granted the production $1.45m on the condition that they shoot in the NRW region of western Germany.

“I’ve been imagining this film for years,” Jarmusch told Screen Daily back when he was looking for financing in Cannes. “I can’t wait to now realise it with these remarkable collaborators.”
