Tributes pour in after author Ray Bradbury dies at 91

Oscar winning film director Steven Spielberg led the tributes for late author Ray Bradbury who died recently aged 91.

According to 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' helmer Spielberg, the revered sci-fi author was his "muse".

Spielberg said "He was my muse for the better part of my sci-fi career. He lives on through his legion of fans. In the world of science fiction and fantasy and imagination he is immortal."

Bradbury's most famous work is 'Fahrenheit 451' which Francois Truffaut made into a celebrated 1966 film starring Julie Christie and Oskar Werner.

Ray Douglas Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920, in Waukegan, Illinois. It is estimated that he wrote around 500 short stories as well as numerous novels, plays and poems. Another of his classic works 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' was made into a surprisingly dark Walt Disney film in 1983, often cited as one of their most ambitious projects.

Anpther tribute came from 'Hot Fuzz' director Edgar Wright: "A standing ovation for Mr. Ray Bradbury. Our imagination will be dimmer without him"

'Moon' filmmaker Duncan Jones also lamented: "Another amazing sci-fi visionary gone. Thank you for the ideas you left us, Mr. Bradbury. We'll try to take heed."

Legendary horror fiction writer Stephen King says, "The sound I hear today is the thunder of a giant's footsteps fading away. But the novels and stories remain, in all their resonance and strange beauty," while 'Prometheus' and 'Lost' screenwriter Damon Lindelof tweeted, "Fahrenheit 451: The temperature at which my heart aches. We will miss you, Ray."
