Vanessa Paradis denies Johnny Depp split
French actress/singer Vanessa Paradis, long time partner of Hollywood icon Johnny Depp, has, after weeks of speculation, officially denied that they are ending their 14-year relationship.
Paradis put the media frenzy to rest by bluntly stating: "The rumour is false. Of course it is false."
Usually the couple refuse to confirm or deny the many rumours that arise in the press, but as this one was "the kind of a rumour that could do a lot of harm to my family" Paradis decided to clear it up.
The 39-year-old told the Grand Journal show: "When people say that we're buying houses, that we've got 52 houses, that we split up every winter and get married every summer, that I'm pregnant for the twelfth time. You know all that's not serious," she said.
"But on the other hand when it could harm my children…"
She added, "I think it's all just business. That's all because … I don't know … the Queen of England hasn't lost a tooth this week, so they've got to find something (to write). And the magazines end up on the fire or in the bathroom, and that's that."
The idea of a split started when the star duo were not pictured together at various events, award shows and premieres despite being in the same town.
Paradis also made a prior cryptic statement that fuelled the fire saying that "in the winter I separate, in the summer I marry" which some media outlets acknowledged as a warning of divorce.
Paradis and 48-year-old Depp have two children, Lily-Rose, 12, and nine-year-old Jack.
