Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels return for 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have been confirmed to reunite for a sequel to their hit comedy 'Dumb and Dumber', the original film's writer/director has stated.

Peter Farrelly, speaking to promote his latest film 'The Three stooges', said: "We're getting set to shoot Dumb And Dumber 2 in September.

"It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

Made in 1994 during a period of Jim Carrey's near-meteoric rise to fame, 'Dumb and Dumber' followed the adventures of friends Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) as they get mixed up with a suitcase of cash, a beautiful girl (Lauren Holly) and crime.

The film was made for less than $20m and went on to earn over $270m at the box office.

It was written and directed by the filmmaking team of Bobby and Peter Farrelly, making their feature film debuts. They teamed up with Carrey again for 'Me, Myself and Irene'.

They were also quick to set the record straight about the oft-maligned prequel: "We did not do Dumb And Dumberer. That was a studio thing. We've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up... He called and said: 'We've got to do this thing again.'"
